Hotel

An ironic metaphor for the fantasy of infinitely extensible virtual space – whether cast as networked social interaction or infinite’ creative vista. The user is stuck alone in a blandly generative and circular space. The hotel takes shape as the user moves about. The space is repetitive – more corridors, more doors, more strange niches – but assembled differently each time the program runs. The hotel seems a space of logic and light, but is actually a space of mystery and impenetrable darkness.

This work extends upon the spatial exploratory concerns of Halfeti – Only Fish Shall Visit, but in a fictional context in which the network of spatial nodes now becomes a play of false opening and claustrophobic repetition.
