Voices of the West End explored issues surrounding cultural identity, landscape and subjectivity – how our collective memories constitute a sense of space/time as ‘place’.
The website emerged from a larger historical project focusing on aspects of Fremantle’s cultural and industrial history. The project was entitled “Voices of the West End: The Fremantle Living Histories Project” and drew together a range of university, museum and local community historians. Using Web 2.0 technologies the website explored issues of migrant experience and the diversity of Fremantle culture in the contemporary networked context.
